The Rabbit of Easter; He bring of the eggs

Cedarock Park in southern Alamance County hosts a Easter egg hunt every year. Since T and Z were with in the allowable age range, and it was a beautiful day, we decided to visit one of our favorite parks to check it out.

There were thousands of eggs in several different areas, segregated by age. Zoe took part in the 10:30 5-7 year old hunt.

Tristan's was at 11:00, and was for the eight to ten year-olds. His strategy to sprint to the back of the field and work forward was very successful.

Along the way we encountered the Rabbit of Easter, the Chic-Fil-A cow, the Kreiders, and a whole slew of rednecks, replete with tatoos, piercings, random facial hair, cigarettes, NASCAR attire, and non-traditional grammar. But I digress. . .

This was Anika Kreider's first Easter, (and egg hunt) and she was pretty into it.

There were also amusements like a bounce house, health screenings, rock wall, and funnel cake stands. The lines were out of hand, so we moved on. We'll definitely return next year.

Random January Post

Nothing all that exciting going on here, just a couple of random things to assemble in order to keep the posts coming semi-regularly.

Saturday night was the Pioneer Club picnic at Mebane Presbyterian Church. It was a lot of fun, and despite being in a big dim room, I got at least one picture that I liked. It's Jennifer holding Anika Kreider, who is just about 0.417 years old (5 months).

Our crappy Mebtel DSL router stopped functioning on Saturday morning, so essential web-surfing is being done via dial-up. How awful is that? We tried to get Mebtel to just do an equipment swap with the faulty router, since this thing (and its predecessors of the same make and model) have been nothing but trouble for years, but they want to do some troubleshooting with us when we're home, rather than just taking the bad unit (which I left on the porch for them) away, and leaving a functioning one.

I used to be an IT professional, so you can bet that I did whatever I could to make that thing work. Here's how I think the "troubleshooting" will go.

Mebtel: Is the unit plugged in?
Me: Yes.
Mebtel: Are you sure the outlet has power?
Me: Seeing as the lights are on and flashing, yes.
Mebtel: Try this. . . .
Me: OK, did that, still not working.
Mebtel: Alright, try this. . . .
Me: OK, did that, still not working.
Mebtel: Alright, try this. . .
Me: OK, did that, still not working.
Mebtel: Hold please

(seven minutes of silence)

Mebtel: Your router is faulty, we'll have to replace it.
Me: I think I told you that yesterday.
Mebtel: Will someone be home between 8 and 5 tomorrow so our technician can come inside and plug two wires into a new box for you. . . .
Me: No, but do you happen to know how much broadband from Time Warner Cable is going for these days. . .

The Traveling Kreiders

For the past three weeks, Jason and Christine Kreider have been in Vietnam adopting their daughter, Anika. They've been sending pictures and updates, and IM chats and phone calls, but today, they finally made it back to North Carolina.

Tristan, Zoe, and I went to Terminal C to meet the Kreiders when they arrived, and to document the momentous occasion in photos, since the family (including Big Brother Alex and Grandfather Jere) would surely have their hands full.

That's it for now as the Kreiders start getting used to a new life as normal. I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more pictures of all of them over the years. . . especially once Jason gives me my camera back.
